You are here: Home » Our Services » Group Therapy – Social Skills

Spectrum offers a range of groups that are geared to help with the social and emotional development of children. These groups are run for preschool and school aged children who may have social cognitive difficulties. In these groups we bring together children of similar ages and abilities aimed at helping them learn how to interact more effectively with other children.

  • Small Group Therapy Programs – Term Time Programs
  • Intensive Social Skills – School Holiday Programs- download current forms

Our group programs aim to help children develop their social skills, social learning, flexible thinking and pragmatic language.  Our Preschool and School Aged programs help the children recognise, understand and respond to both verbal and non-verbal social communication.  These programs  help them to build and maintain relationships and friendships.

In these groups we bring together children of similar ages and abilities to help them learn how to interact more effectively with other children.  For our preschool children, we use play as the vehicle for helping them learn to relate to others and to develop social skills through ‘doing’.  For older children, the emphasis of the groups is on establishing and maintaining friendships and developing an understanding of the `social’ world.

If you have any concerns about your child’s communication, social , friendship or academic skills, call us to arrange an appointment with one of our therapists.
