There are a number of government funding initiatives to support children with autism spectrum disorders, including:

  1. Helping children with Autism package – MEDICARE – ASSESSMENT

It is possible for families to claim rebates from Medicare for ASSESSMENT  of children suspected of having an Autism Spectrum Disorder.  A specific referral must be made by the paediatrician for this rebate to be available.

The paediatrician can allocate up to four sessions for assessment for which rebates are available up until the child turns 13 years of age.
